Uganda Canine Safaris Ltd, a promising startup, represented Uganda at GITEX AFRICA 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco. This three-day event provided a global platform for 15 young Ugandan innovators from the Youth Startup Academy Uganda (YSAU) to showcase their creations.
GITEX AFRICA, organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre, is the African edition of the Global Information Technology Exhibition held annually in Dubai. It aims to connect tech enthusiasts, startups, investors, and industry leaders worldwide to foster innovation and collaboration.
Connecting Tech Enthusiasts and Industry Leaders
Canine Safaris Ltd recently made headlines by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korean AI company Flitto at GITEX AFRICA 2024. This groundbreaking partnership aimed to leverage AI technology to preserve cultural heritage by translating and preserving local dialects. The collaboration, facilitated through the YSAU program underscored the startup’s commitment to cultural preservation and innovation.
Barbara Birungi Mutabazi co-founder of Hive Colab emphasized the importance of this opportunity for young entrepreneurs. “We not only train but also facilitate the entrepreneurs, making them ready for investment so they can attract capital and grow or expand,” she said. This aligned with YSAU’s mission to incubate 1000 young entrepreneurs. With Canine Safaris Ltd being a part of the second cohort of beneficiaries.
At GITEX AFRICA 2024, Canine Safaris Ltd had the chance to pitch its ventures to potential investors. Network with industry leaders, and gain exposure to the latest technological trends. This exposure was crucial for securing funding and strategic partnerships that could propel the startup to new heights.
The event was also a testament to Uganda’s growing presence on the global entrepreneurial stage. Last year’s inaugural edition of GITEX AFRICA saw participation from over 400 attendees from 80 countries, including 10 from Uganda. This year, organisers expected representatives from 130 countries further highlighting the event’s significance.
Award-winning Ugandan startups like M-scan Uganda Ltd. which was recognized for its ultrasonic technology solution for low-resource areas, had previously demonstrated the country’s potential. This year, Canine Safaris Ltd, along with other startups aimed to build on this legacy and showcase Uganda’s innovative spirit.
As the world increasingly focuses on AI and its transformative potential across various industries such as agriculture, education, and telecommunications. Canine Safaris Ltd’s participation in GITEX AFRICA 2024 represented a critical step towards harnessing this technology for cultural preservation and global collaboration.
Stay tuned for updates on Canine Safaris Ltd and other Ugandan startups as they continue to drive forward the vision of a technologically advanced and culturally rich future.
